Dr. Abiodun Ayodele Akinsanya is an accomplished biochemist and biotechnology professional with over 25 years of experience in research, innovation, and executive leadership. He began his career as a lecturer at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, after graduating as the Best Biochemistry Student in 1979. He lectured for seven years before moving to the United Kingdom to pursue a PhD in Leukaemia Research at the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST), completed in 1992.
Following his doctorate, he transitioned into biotechnology as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow and became the first employee of Tepnel Life Sciences plc, a start-up biotechnology company in Manchester. He later rose to the position of Principal Biochemist, contributing significantly to the company’s growth, which eventually became a subsidiary of the US-based Gen-Probe Inc.
Dr. Akinsanya also served as Managing Director of Alpha & Omega Bioapplications UK and acted as a consultant to several UK biotechnology start-ups, providing strategic and technical guidance in research commercialization and product development.
